The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 34 kilometers southeast of Tabina at 8:48 a.m. Depth of focus was 14 kilometers. An intensity II was reported in Cotabato City. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

(Eagle News)–A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Japan on Saturday, Oct. 12, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. The JMA said the quake hit Chiba-ken Nanto-oki at 6:22 p.m. (JST). Depth of focus was 80 kilometers.
