4.1-magnitude earthquake hits Batanes

(Eagle News)–A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck Batanes on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 26 kilometers southeast of Itbayat at 11:02 a.m. Depth of focus of the quake was 14 kilometers. An instrumental intensity I was felt in Basco. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.  

“Ineng” accelerates further as it approaches Batanes

(Eagle News)–Severe Tropical Storm “Ineng  accelerated further on Saturday, Aug. 24, and is now approaching Batanes, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. 3.2-magnitude quake hits Batanes

(Eagle News)–A 3.2-magnitude earthquake struck Batanes on Saturday, Aug. 10. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 35 kilometers southwest of Sabtang at 7:18 a.m. Depth of focus was 30 kilometers. An instrumental intensity I was felt in Basco. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

(Eagle News)–A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck Batanes on Sunday, Aug. 4. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 9 kilometers southwest of Itbayat at 9:52 a.m. Depth of focus was 13 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.  

Cost of quake damage in Itbayat, Batanes now at P54.79 M; more than 300 tremors recorded since July 27
