More than 113,000 residents of Bicol and Eastern Visayas were evacuated from their homes because of typhoon Amang, international name Mekkhala. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), a total of 20,695 families or 113,160 persons were evacuated in the provinces of Albay, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Leyte, Biliran, Eastern Samar, and Samar.
