Red, yellow alerts in effect over Luzon grid today, June 18

(Eagle News)–Red and yellow alerts are in effect over the Luzon grid today, June 18.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said the yellow alert, which means reserves do not meet the minimum requirements, is in effect from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The red alert, which means there is a generation deficiency, is in effect from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Available capacity is at 11,402 megawatts, while peak demand is at  11,114 MW.

“Details on the cause (are) to be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day,” the NGCP said.
