POPCOM holds Regional POPDEV Summit

TACLOBAN CITY, Dec. 3 (PIA) – In observance of the annual Population and Development Week, the Commission on Population (POPCOM) will hold a Regional POPDEV Summit on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Ritz Tower de Leyte, Tacloban City.

Expected to attend the multi-sectoral forum are Population Officers and workers, government and non-government representatives, the interfaith and the youth sector.

According to POPCOM, the primary objective of the forum is to be able to conduct a public discussion on the implications of reaching the 100 million mark for the country’s population.

As such, the theme for this year’s POPDEV Week celebration is centered on “Bigyang Halaga ang Bawat Pinoy sa Pag-unlad . . . Ngayon at Bukas!” (Making Every Filipino Matter in Sustainable Development.)

Relative to the summit will be a Photo Exhibit of the 7 Regional 100M Pinoy Symbolic Babies.

In this regard, POPCOM Regional Director Elnora R. Pulma is anticipating the attendance of representatives from the various government and non-government institutions to witness and participate in the Population Summit. Registration of participants will start at 7:30 a.m. (ajc/maa/PIA-8)
