Police firearms “sealed” in Western Mindanao

Chief Sup. Edgar Basbas, Regional Director Of Police Regional Office-9 in Zamboanga peninsula has presided the “muzzle taping” of the private firearms of  police officers to make sure that these will not be used in welcoming the new year, 2015.

Basbas had warned the police officers who were not present in the said activity that they should immediately connect to their mother unit to let their issued firearms  be sealed of  or “muzzle taped” before welcoming the New Year.

Police officers were also probihibited from firing their guns this vacation season until the New Year.  Those who will disobey  this order will be punished with a disciplinary action.

Zamboanguenos also hope that they would no longer hear any gun firing or pyrotechnics this New Year celebration. The city has banned the use of pyrotechnics and any kind of explosives under the city ordinance  number 431.

Zamboanga  is one of seven(7) cities in the country that prohibits  the use of any kind of explosives in welcoming the year 2015. (Ely Dumaboc, Eagle News Service/ video courtesy Ely Dumaboc)
