PNP: P1.6 million worth of marijuana seized in Taytay; 2 nabbed

(Eagle News) — Authorities seized P1.6 million worth of marijuana in a police operation inside a subdivision in Taytay, the Philippine National Police said.

According to the PNP, two individuals identified as Jomar Vergara, 19, and Edgardo Claudio, 25, were also arrested during the operation in Barangay Dolores on June 23, Thursday.

PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao said the operation stemmed from a tip from a concerned citizen about the supposed rampant selling of illegal drugs in the area.

Danao said the police conducted “careful intelligence gathering and surveillance that yielded positive results” prior to the operation.

“This adds to the ongoing list of police operations that successfully (led to the arrest of) major drug players and (confiscation of a) huge value of illegal drugs,” Danao said.

The PNP said criminal charges are being prepared against the arrested individuals.
