Pangasinan placed under state of calamity

(Eagle News) — Pangasinan has been placed under a state of calamity several parts of the province were flooded due to the heavy rains.

A post on the province’s Facebook page said the declaration was “due to damages caused by the incessant rains brought about by ..’Inday’ and Tropical Depression ‘Josie’.”

Provincial resolution No. 437-2018, that placed the province under the state of calamity, said so far, based on a report by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, total damage to  agriculture and infrastructure were at P648, 380, 466.12 and P435,700,000 respectively.

It said “close to 300 barangays” were affected by “severe flooding” brought about by the “incessant rains.”

As of July 22, a total of 10,528 families or 43,334 individuals have been affected, it said.

The resolution was signed by Verna Nava-Perez, secretary of the provincial council, and Napoleon Fontelera Jr., a member and presiding officer pro tempore. Nora Dominguez
