3.2-magnitude earthquake hits Davao Oriental

(Eagle News)–A 3.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Oriental early Saturday, Oct. 5. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit  35 kilometers southeast of Tarragona at 2:53 a.m. Depth of focus was 149 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Thunderstorm advisory hoisted over M. Manila, other areas

(Eagle News)–A thunderstorm advisory has been hoisted over Metro Manila and other areas. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon as well. “All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” PAGASA said.    

Veteran actress Amalia Fuentes dies

(Eagle News)–A 3.4-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 52 kilometers southwest of Sarangani at 7:22 a.m. Depth of focus of the quake was 259 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
