DFA: 128 distressed Filipinos from UAE arrive in PHL

(Eagle News) — The sulfur dioxide emission of Taal volcano is now “below instrumental detection,” but seismic earthquakes continue, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said on Tuesday, Jan. 28. 3.1-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Norte

(Eagle News) — A 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Norte on Tuesday, Jan. 28. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which  struck at 11:33 a.m., had its epicenter 3 kilometers northeast of Burgos. Depth of focus was 8 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Duterte appoints former military chief Madrigal to PCA board

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed former Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Benjamin Madrigal Jr. as a member of the Philippine Coconut Authority governing board. Madrigal’s appointment paper was signed on Jan. 21. Madrigal’s appointment came less than four months after he retired from the service. He retired in September 2019 after reaching the mandatory age of retirement of 56.
