Magnitude 5.2 quake rocks Davao del Sur; PHIVOLCS expecting aftershocks

(Eagle News) – A magnitude 5.2 quake rocked Davao del Sur early dawn of Saturday, July 11, which was felt at various intensities in surrounding areas.

The tremor occurred at 2:16 a.m. and its epicenter was located at 11 kilometers southeast of Kibiawan, Davao del Sur, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

It was 19 kilometers deep and was felt at intensity 5 in Bansalan and Magsaysay in Davao del Sur.

Instrumental intensities were reported in the following areas:

Intensity 4 – Kidapawan City; Tupi, South Cotabato; Malungon, Sarangani
Intensity 2 – Alabel, Sarangani; General Santos City;
Intensity 1 – Kiamba, Sarangani

PHIVOLCS said in its bulletin that it is expecting aftershocks due to the tremor.
