Isko Moreno asks city council to abolish Manila Tricycle Regulatory Office due to corruption

(Eagle News)–Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Monday, Sept. 23, asked  the city council to abolish the Manila Tricycle Regulatory Office, citing corruption in the department.

Moreno said during the city’s flag-raising ceremony that he has already asked Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna to do this.

In calling for the abolition, Moreno said some MTRO personnel receive bribes almost weekly from tricycle drivers in exchange for allowing them to ply  routes  other than the ones specified in their franchise.

Apart from corruption in the MTRO, Moreno cited the lack of discipline of tricycle drivers for his request for the abolition.

He called on the tricycle drivers in the city to exercise discipline. Madz Moratillo
