Guevarra to NBI: Probe Batuan, Masbate Vice Mayor Yuson slay

(Eagle News)–Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to probe the killing of Batuan, Masbate Vice Mayor Charlie Yuson III.

Guevarra, through Department Order No. 564 issued on Oct. 18, also asked NBI Director Dante Gierran to hold a case buildup and, if evidence warrants, file the appropriate charges against the persons found responsible.

Yuson was killed as he was having breakfast in Sampaloc, Manila on Oct. 9.

At least four people have been arrested by authorities.

Yuson’s wife Lalaine has alleged Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office board member Sandra Cam was behind the killing of the vice mayor, whose son Charmax had run for mayor of Batuan in 2019 and defeated Cam’s son, Marco Martin.

But Cam has denied the allegations.

Earlier, authorities raided the properties of the vice mayor and his son and found high-powered firearms.

Charges were filed against the father and son tandem in connection with the incident. With a report from Moira Encina
