Galvez, Albayalde visit wake of policemen killed in Samar “misencounter”

(Eagle News) — Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Carlito Galvez visited on Wednesday, June 27, the wake of the policemen killed in the misencounter between policemen and soldiers in Samar on Monday, June 25.

The families of P01 Wyndell Noromor, PO1 Edwin Ebrado, PO1 Phil Rey Mendigo, PO1 Julius Suarez, PO1 Rowell Reyes, and PO1 Julie Escalo, who were killed in the incident in Barangay San Roque in Santa Rita, each received P500,000 worth of special financial assistance.

The injured in the incident–PO1 Elmer Pan, PO1 Cris Angelo Pialago, PO1 Romulo Cordero,PO1 Joenel Gonzaga,PO1 Rey Barbosa,PO1 Roden Goden, PO1 Jaime Galoy, PO1 Rommel Bagunas and PO1 Jonmark Adones–also received financial assistance: P250,000 for those who sustained total permanent physical disability, and P100,000 for those who sustained minor injuries.

This was apart from the P2400 yearly allowance to be received from PhilHealth, and the P450,000 in generous assistance allowance for each family of slain policemen and those with TPPD.

A closed-door meeting was also held by Albayalde and Galvez early in the day.

During the meeting, the ongoing inquiry into the incident was discussed. Mar Gabriel
