(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has signed laws declaring four areas as tourist destinations.
Below is a list of the new laws signed by the President on Aug. 22 and the respective areas that were declared as tourist sites:
Republic Act No. 11406 — Mount Bulaylay in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija
Republic Act No. 11407 — Candon City Ecotourism Zone in Ilocos Sur
Republic Act No. 11408–Santiago Cove in Santiago, Ilocos Sur

Under the laws, the Department of Tourism, in coordination with the concerned local government units and government agencies, is tasked to prepare a tourism development plan “involving the construction, installation and maintenance of appropriate facilities and infrastructure” to promote tourism in the destinations.
This should have been done within a year upon the enactment of each measure.
The plan shall also ensure the “preservation and conservation of the historic significance of the area.”
