Daanbantayan, Cebu mayor tests positive for COVID-19

(Eagle News)–The Daanbantayan, Cebu mayor has tested positive for COVID-19.

Mayor Sun Shimura made the announcement in the official Facebook page of the municipality on Sunday night.

According to Shimura, the results were based on a swab test he took on June 21, three days after he had a fever and a cough.

Earlier, he underwent rapid testing but tested negative for the same so he continued to attend meetings.

The mayor is the second local chief executive in Cebu to test positive for the virus after Mayor Junard Chan of Lapu Lapu city.

Cebu is in Central Visayas, which is also composed of the provinces of Bohol, Siquijor, and Negros Oriental.

Only Cebu City was placed under enhanced community quarantine due to the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases there.

Talisay City was placed under a modified enhanced community quarantine.
