(Eagle News)–A 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Oriental on Monday, Aug. 12. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 157 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso at 9:27 a.m. The depth of focus of the quake was 52 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

(Eagle News)–A 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Occidental on Monday, Aug. 12. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 35 kilometers southeast of Don Marcelino at 7:51 a.m. Depth of focus was 154 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
3.0-magnitude quake hits Occidental Mindoro
(Eagle News)–A 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro on Sunday, Aug. 11. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 27 kilometers southwest of Looc at 5:10 a.m. Depth of focus was 24 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
3.1-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Norte
(Eagle News)–A 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Norte on Saturday, Aug. 10. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 76 kilometers northeast of General Luna at 3:43 p.m. Depth of focus was nine kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
3.2-magnitude quake hits Batanes
(Eagle News)–A 3.2-magnitude earthquake struck Batanes on Saturday, Aug. 10. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 35 kilometers southwest of Sabtang at 7:18 a.m. Depth of focus was 30 kilometers. An instrumental intensity I was felt in Basco. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

(Eagle News)–A 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck Batanes on Friday, Aug. 9. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, an aftershock of the series of earthquakes in the province on July 27, hit 3 kilometers southwest of Itbayat at 10:51 a.m Depth of focus was 17 kilometers. An intensity III was felt in Itbayat, PHIVOLCS said. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Duterte visits wake of victims in Iloilo-Guimaras sea tragedy
(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, Aug. 7, visited the kin of the victims in the Iloilo-Guimaras sea tragedy. Each family received P50,000 from Duterte himself when he visited the Gegato Abecia funeral home in Iloilo City. At least 31 were killed after motorboats M/B Chi-Chi, M/B Keziah and M/B Jenny Vince capsized on Saturday, reportedly due to strong waves and winds. The Maritime Industry Authority is conducting a probe into the incident.
