3.1-magnitude quake jolts Davao Oriental

(Eagle News)—A 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Oriental on Thursday, Feb. 21. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 141 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso at 3:31 a.m. The earthquake, which was of tectonic origin, had a depth of focus of nine kilometers. No damage nor aftershocks were expected.

Duterte signs order directing gov’t to identify state-owned agricultural lands for distribution

(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, Feb. 20, signed an order directing the government to identify agricultural lands owned by the state and distribute these to qualified beneficiaries. In Executive Order 75, Duterte ordered “all departments, bureaus, offices and instrumentalities of the government” to do this within 30 days from effectivity of the order.
