Red alert over Luzon grid lifted; grid now under yellow alert

(Eagle News) — The red alert hoisted over the Luzon grid has been lifted. The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines made the announcement in a Facebook post on Thursday, April 11. According to the NGCP, the grid was no longer under the alert  as of 2:18 p.m. It is, however, under a yellow alert from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., the NGCP said. 43-year-old man surrenders to police; admits killing Christine Silawan

(Eagle News)– The man behind the killing of Christine Silawan has surrendered. Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde said the 43-year-old man identified as Renato Bayuban Llenes alias “Renren” went to the Cebu police on April 9 and confessed to the killing of the Cebu student on March 11. SWS: Duterte’s net satisfaction rating rises; 79 percent of Filipinos satisfied with his performance

(Eagle News) — Seventy-nine percent of Filipinos are satisfied with President Rodrigo Duterte’s performance, based on a recent Social Weather Stations survey. Blaze destroys some vehicles in Manila traffic impounding area

(Eagle News)–Several vehicles caught fire at the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau  on Thursday, April 11. Authorities said the fire at the MTPB Impounding Extension Area on A. Mabini Street took place past 3 a.m. The cause of the fire, which was put out after a few minutes, has yet to be determined. Damage to property has also yet to be determined.

Guevarra orders dismissal of 8 Immigration job order contractors for alleged extortion of Korean nationals

2.3-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Norte

(Eagle News)–A 2.3-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Norte on Thursday, April 11. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 11 kilometers northeast of General Luna at 5:30 a.m. The quake, of tectonic origin, has a depth of focus of 23 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.

(Eagle News)–Isolated rainshowers are expected in parts of the country today as the easterlies continue to affect Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
