Palace condoles with kin of those killed in Batanes quakes

(Eagle News)–The Palace on Sunday, July 28, condoled with the kin of those killed in the Batanes earthquakes on Saturday, July 27. “We send our sincerest prayers for the fast and speedy recovery of those who were injured,” the Palace added in a brief statement. Duterte to visit quake-hit Batanes on Sunday, July 28

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte will visit quake-hit Batanes on Sunday, July 28. The Palace did not, however, provide more details about the President’s visit. Batanes was hit by successive quakes starting Friday, July 26, killing at least eight people and injuring several others. The quakes took place as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority held a metrowide earthquake drill in preparation for what experts said was the Big One.

PCSO to appeal President Duterte’s order terminating all forms of gambling

(Eagle News)–The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office will appeal President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to stop all forms of gambling activities under its mandate. This is according to PCSO general manager Royina M. Garma, who issued a statement a day after the President’s directive. (Eagle News)–At least eight people were killed and several injured after earthquakes struck Batanes early Saturday, July 27. JUST IN: 3.8-magnitude quake hits Batanes

(Eagle News)–A 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck Batanes on Saturday, July 27. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 35 kilometers southeast of Itbayat at 11:19 a.m. It was an aftershock of the 5.9-magnitude earthquake that hit the area earlier in the day. An instrumental intensity II was felt in Basco. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
