Calida: “Why don’t we listen to Napoles?”

(Eagle News) — For Solicitor General Jose Calida, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has the prerogative to end state protection for Janet Lim Napoles.

He added, however, that “if Janet Lim Napoles has evidence (on) other recipients of (the Disbursement Acceleration Program), why don’t we listen to her?”

He said all those who were indicted so far–former senators Bong Revilla, Juan Ponce Enrile and Jinggoy Estrada— were “enemies of the former president,” or Benigno Aquino III.

“How about the other senators and congressmen? We should listen to anybody, whether it be Napoles or anybody else..We should listen to them,” he said.

Asked who else he thought should be indicted, Calida said he has “some people in mind.”

He, however, he said, could not divulge the exact figure of individuals who should be taken to task.

“No one should be allowed to go scot-free..That’s billions and billions of government money,” he said.

In terminating Napoles’ provisional admission to the Witness Protection Program, Guevarra effectively reversed the move of his predecessor, Vitaliano Aguirre III.

Guevarra cited the Sandiganbayan’s denial of Napoles’ urgent motions  to be transferred to the Department of Justice in the Sandiganbayan as a reason for the termination.

He said this means “the main purpose for which (Napoles) had sought  admission” into the program “has become moot and academic.”
