(Eagle News)–An American national was arrested by immigration residents for allegedly working without a permit in a beach resort in Boracay, the Bureau of Immigration said  on Monday, April 30.

Randall Lee Parker’s arrest came barely a day after the government implemented a 6-month closure of Boracay for its rehabilitation.

BI Commissioner Jaime H. Morente said the 52-year-old Parker was caught in flagrante on April 25 inside the premises of the Crown Beach Hotel, which he owns.

According to Morente, he had issued a mission order against Parker following a complaint he was working without the proper documentation, in violation of the Labor Code and the Immigation Act.

Atty. Antonette Bucasas- Mangrobang, BI spokesperson, said that a check of the agency’s  records showed that the American arrived in the country on April 16, 2016 as a tourist and has not departed ever since.

She said, however, that  Parker had been going in and out of the country since 2005.

“He will undergo deportation proceedings for illegally working in the country,” Morente said.
