Abu Sayyaf releases two abducted policewomen

(Eagle News) — Two policemen who were abducted by Abu Sayyaf bandits in Sulu have been released.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said P02 Bennie Rose Alvarez and P01 Dinah Gumahad were “on their way” to the residence of Governor Sakur Tan “at iri-release sila kay provincial director doon.”

“Kaya siguro binitawan na rin sila it’s because of the pressure na ginagawa ng military and the PNP,”  Albayalde said.

He said that while they already had a suspect, the Ajang-Ajang group, they were still trying to determine who was behind the police’s abduction.

Apart from Alvarez and Gumahad, two others were abducted on April 29.

The other two, however, were released last week.
