5 dead, 11 injured in Kawit, Cavite road crash

(Eagle News) — Five people were killed while 11 more were injured in a road crash along Centennial Highway in Kawit, Cavite on Wednesday morning, September 6.

The public utility vehicle with a plate number DVK-713 was traveling from Zapote, Las Piñas to Tanza, Cavite when the driver hit a concrete electrical post.

According to Kawit Police Station C/Insp. Jeffrey Punzalaan, the jeepney which was loaded with 16 passengers was heavily damaged with its windshield broken into pieces and the front part of the vehicle, severely dented.

Punzalan added that the road crash was a “self-accident” since there were no other vehicles involved.

The injured victims were immediately rushed to the nearest hospitals.

As of the moment, police officials were still investigating the accident and the identities of the victims.
