33 quakes monitored in Taal

(Eagle News) — Thirty-three earthquakes were monitored in Taal in 24 hours.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quakes at the volcano, which is on alert level 2, were tremor events that lasted for one to 26 minutes.

A low background tremor was also monitored.

Sulfur dioxide emissions, meanwhile, were at 3397 tons on July 30.

A weak steam plume rising 50 meters was also monitored.

PHIVOLCS reiterated its recommendation for the ban on the entry into the Taal Volcano Island especially in the main crater and the Daang Kastila fissure.

Earlier, PHIVOLCS lowered the alert level over Taal from 3 over decreased activity.
