
(Eagle News) – A 5.9 magnitude quake hit Catanduanes at 2:19 pm on May 5, Saturday, with a depth of 46 kilometers. This came four hours after a magnitude 4.6 quake hit the province, 19 kilometers south east of Baras.
Both quakes were of tectonic origin.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) advisory, it is expecting aftershocks after the latest quake that hit Catanduanes Saturday afternoon.
The quake was felt at intensity 3 in Guinayangan, Quezon and in Sorsogon City.
The 4.6 magnitude quake that hit Catanduanes at 10:18 a.m. was also felt at intensity 3 in Sorsogon City and intensity 2 in Legazpi City.
