2 nabbed in Batangas over high-grade marijuana shipment

(Eagle News) — Two individuals were arrested in Batangas over a high-grade shipment of marijuana sent through parcel service from the United States.

The Philippine National Police said arrested were vape store owner John Yengle Hernandez, 29; and Van Joshua Magpantay, 29; after they received the package containing 500 grams of kush marijuana.

The parcel, which the PNP said was sent by one Nina Manual from California and was consigned to one Demetria Escalona, had been earlier flagged by the NAIA-Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group.

“The arrested persons obviously know where this high-grade marijuana comes from. Whether they cooperate or not, we are going after their international and local sources,” PNP Chief Debold Sinas said.

Earlier, the PNP said it seized 535 tablets of ecstasy pills worth P1 million from an air parcel originating from The Netherlands.

The package had been misdeclared as documents.
