(Eagle News) — The Sandiganbayan’s sixth division has denied the appeal of former immigration deputy commissioner Al Argosino for the plunder case against him to be dismissed.

In a 13-page resolution, the division said it denied Argosino’s motion to quash the case stemming from the P50-million bribery scandal in 2016.

The P50 million Argosino and fellow immigration deputy commissioner Michael Robles allegedly extorted from Chinese businessman Jack Lam were supposedly in exchange for the release of Chinese nationals who worked for him but whom the Bureau of Immigration arrested for their alleged violation of immigration laws.

Robles, Lam and the businessman’s alleged middleman Wally Sombero have also been charged in connection with the incident.
