QC schools to continue receiving displaced students from Marawi City

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) – Different schools in Quezon City will extend their help to those students who are displaced by the Marawi conflict.

In an interview with Net 25’s “Liwanagin Natin,” Education Program Supervisor Nimfa Gabertan of the Department of Education – Quezon City, said that schools in the city in the northern part of Metro Manila will continue receiving students from the war-torn area.

The local government of Quezon City will also provide the students their school supplies.

As of now, 87 students from Marawi City are enrolled in different schools in Quezon City and the number is expected to rise.

“Ok naman na po kami basta pag mayroong nag–enroll, they are accepted naman po,” the official said.

Gabertan also said that there are teachers in Quezon City who know how to teach using the Muslim language.

“Mayroon naman po tayong mga teacher from different school sa Quezon city na talagang nagtuturo ng language ng Muslim so kahit papano nakakaintindi ang mga yun para makipag-usap sa mga student natin,” Gabertan said.

Gabertan also said that the student-transferees from Marawi City will still be accepted until June 30.
