(Eagle News)–A man was arrested after he allegedly set fire to his own 3-year-old daughter in Davao City.
Police said it was a relative of the suspect–identified only as Roger—who went to the police station to report the incident that took place on Sunday night in Malagamot, Panacan.
According to the authorities, the relative had woken up to screams from the child and shouts from the suspect past 10 p.m.
The suspect, who had become depressed after his wife left him, the witness said, was shouting he would make his daughter feel his problems too.
After the fire was put out, the child was rushed to the hospital.
She is now in its intensive care unit.
According to the police, they found the gas container and lighter the suspect used to set fire on the victim inside his house.
The suspect, who has denied the allegations, is facing criminal charges.
