Cotabato town placed under state of calamity due to dry spell

(Eagle News) — A town in Cotabato was placed under a state of calamity because of the dry spell being experienced there.

The decision to place M’lang under such a state was made by the Sangguniang Bayan.

This was after 28 of the 37 barangays in the town were seen experiencing the effects of the high temperatures since January.

The declaration, according to Agriculture Secretary Manny Pinol, will pave the way for the use of five percent of M’lang’s total Internal Revenue Allotment as assistance to farmers affected by the dry spell.
