NEW BERN, North Carolina (AFP) — Hurricane Florence’s storm surge causing trees to fall and building damage on the streets of New Bern, North Carolina where hundreds of people have been rescued from their homes. The riverfront town of New Bern, was hit as the sprawling Category 1 hurricane came close to making landfall.
The state bureau on Monday warned of possible storm surges in the five provinces of Bicol and Eastern Visayas Regions as intensified tropical storm “Nona” maintained its strength. The Philippines Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that storm surges of up to four meters are possible in the Samar-Sorsogon area.
