IBP says Senate has no power to investigate judiciary

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) said that the Senate has no power to investigate the members of the judiciary, saying that it violates the independence of the judicial branch of the government. The IBP made the remarks in response to Senator Antonio Trillanes saying that he would ask the Senate to investigate the Court of Appeals (CA) regarding the Binay case.

Binay’s camp denied Trillanes’ allegations of promised support

Senator Antonio Trillanes remarked that Vice President Binay’s withdrawal from their debate is a reminder of Binay’s lack of trustworthiness, saying that he did the same when Trillanes staged his coup attempt last 2007, wherein Binay promised support but did not made an appearance. Binay’s camp denied Trilanes’ allegations.
