4.1-magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental

(Eagle News) — A 4.1 -magnitude earthquake hit Davao Occidental on Thursday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 101 kilometers east of Sarangani at 7:34 a.m. The depth of focus of the quake–which was tectonic in origin—was at 51 kilometers. There were no reported aftershocks nor damage.  

4.6-magnitude quake hits Nueva Vizcaya

(Eagle News) — A 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck Nueva Vizcaya on Tuesday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake took place seven kilometers east of Kayapa. The earthquake–which struck at 12:12 p.m.–was tectonic in origin. There were no reported aftershocks.

5.2-magnitude quake strikes off Sarangani

(Eagle News) — A  5.2-magnitude earthquake struck at sea off Sarangani  in Davao Occidental on Monday. The quake struck at 8:47 p.m. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said that it had a depth of focus of 12 kilometers. The epicenter was some 236 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. No damage was reported.

5.1-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Norte

(Eagle News) — A magnitude-5.1 earthquake struck Surigao del Norte on Sunday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake struck 36 kilometers northeast of Burgos at 10:32 p.m. The depth of focus of the quake was 14 kilometers. PHIVOLCS “closely monitoring” Mt. Kanlaon after 578 earthquakes were recorded there in 24 hours

(Eagle News) — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology on Wednesday said that 578 earthquakes were recorded in Mt. Kanlaon in the last 24 hours. 4.5-magnitude quake hits Leyte

(Eagle News) — A 4.5-magnitude earthquake hit Leyte on Saturday, Dec. 9. The Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology said the quake took place eleven kilometers southwest of municipality of Burauen at 3:39 p.m. Depth of focus was at five kilometers. No aftershocks were expected.

5.0-magnitude quake hits Davao Oriental

(Eagle News) — A 5.0-magnitude quake struck Davao Oriental on Thursday. The Philippine Institute Volcanology and Seismology said the earthquake hit 46 kilometers southeast of Caraga at at 9:16 a.m. Depth of focus was at 23 kilometers. An intensity III was felt in Bislig City, Surigao. No aftershocks were reported.

4.3-magnitude quake hits Quezon

(Eagle News) — A 4.3-magnitude earthquake hit Quezon on Thursday. The Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology said the quake took place three kilometers west of Calauag at 8:02 p.m. Depth of focus was at 21 kilometers. An Intensity V was felt in Calauag and Guinayangan. No aftershocks were expected.  

Alert Level 2 hoisted over Mt. Kanlaon

(Eagle News) — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has raised the alert status of Kanlaon, noting that the volcano was undergoing a “moderate level of unrest.” In an advisory, PHIVOLCS as a result reminded local government units and the public that “entry into the 4-kilometer radius permanent danger zone is strictly prohibited ” It said this was due to the “further possibilities of sudden and hazardous stean-driven or phreatic eruptions.” “Civil aviation authorities […]

4.1-magnitude quake strikes Catanduanes

(Eagle News) — A 4.1-magnitude quake struck Catanduanes on Tuesday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the earthquake took place at 11:14 a.m. Its epicenter was  at 68 kilometers northwest of Pandan in Catanduanes, Phivolcs said. It added that the quake had a depth of 10 kilometers. An Intensity 3 was felt in Naga, and an Intensity 2 in Legazpi. No aftershocks are expected.
