113,000 residents evacuated because of typhoon “Amang”; typhoon now a mere LPA

More than 113,000 residents of Bicol and Eastern Visayas were evacuated from their homes because of typhoon Amang, international name Mekkhala. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), a total of 20,695 families or 113,160 persons were evacuated in the provinces of Albay, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Leyte, Biliran, Eastern Samar, and Samar. Metro Manila will be cloudy with occasional rainshowers and thunderstorms as a tail-end of a cold front continue to affect Southern Luzon, and the Northeast Monsoon also affecting Northern Luzon.
