CA clears Joel Reyes in environmentalist’s murder; frees former Palawan governor from jail

(Eagle News)– Former Palawan Governor Joel Reyes has been released from jail. This was after the Court of Appeals ruled that the regional trial court had erred in filing the murder complaint against him. The complaint was in connection with the death of environmentalist Gerry Ortega in 2011. Apart from Ortega, also indicted were his  brother, former Coron Mayor Mario Reyes, and others previously connected with the provincial government.
