ICT department reiterates need for National Broadband Program

(Eagle News)–The Department of Information and Communications Technology reiterated the need for a government-owned national fiber network even as it noted improvements in the country’s Internet speed. According to ICT department chief Gregorio Honasan II, the government “should not leave the fate of our national ICT infrastructure to the private sector only,” adding that the National Broadband Program would address the lack of ICT infrastructure resulting in some areas with weak to no connection signals. ICT department issues 23 provisional registration certificates as it ramps up roll-out of common towers to improve Internet connectivity

(Eagle News)–The Department of Information and Communications Technology on Tuesday, Sept. 15, announced it had given 23 provisional certificates of registration to several tower companies, as it continues to ramp up the roll-out of common towers in the country.
