Due to overstaying, human trafficking concerns, new Filipino workers can no longer enter US with H-2A, H-2B visas from Jan. 19, 2019 to Jan. 18, 2020

(Eagle News) — Forty-eight percent of Filipinos believe President Rodrigo Duterte will fulfill most if not all of his promises, a Social Weather Stations survey said. DFA: Filipino newly-weds drown during honeymoon in Maldives

(Eagle News)—A newlywed Filipino couple drowned while snorkelling during their honeymoon in the Maldives, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Monday, Jan. 14. The DFA did not identify the victims, but said the 29-year-old wife and her 30-year-old husband were guests at a resort in Dhiffushi island when the incident took place. DFA: No Filipinos hurt in car attack in Tokyo

(Eagle News)–No Filipinos were hurt after a car rammed against a crowd celebrating the New Year in Tokyo, Japan. The Department of Foreign Affairs said there were no Filipinos among the nine who were injured in the attack on Takeshita St. in  Harajuku. The DFA said this was based on a report from the Philippine embassy in Tokyo. Authorities have the driver, Kazuhiro Kusakabe, whom they said acted with “intent to murder.”    

SWS: 92 percent of Filipinos enter 2019 with hope

(Eagle News)—Ninety two percent of Filipinos are entering 2019 with hope, a Social Weather Stations survey said. (Eagle News) – The Department of Foreign Affairs said that no Filipino was reported affected by the eruption of Mount Etna and the more than 100 seismic quakes recorded in Sicily, Italy. SWS: 41% of Filipinos are Internet users

(Eagle News) — Forty-one percent of Filipinos are Internet users, a recent Social Weather Stations survey said. According to the Third Quarter 2018 Social Weather Survey done via interviews from September 15 to 23, the 41 percent is a one percent increase from the figure recorded in June.
