5.5-magnitude quake hits Cagayan

(Eagle News)–A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck  Cagayan on Thursday, Jan. 24. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which was tectonic in origin, hit 27 kilometers northwest of Calayan at 4:34 p.m. An intensity IV was registered in Laoag City; Bacarra, Pasuquin, and Vintar, Ilocos Norte; while an intensity III was felt in Cervantes, and Sinait, Ilocos Sur. Typhoon Hanna (international name Soudelor) enters PAR

  (Eagle News) — Typhoon Hanna (international name: Soudelor) has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of Wednesday morning, August 5, according to PAGASA. As of 8 a.m. today, Hanna was located at 1420 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan with maximum winds of 215 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 250 kilometers per hour.
