More than 100 tent classrooms are expected to arrive in Albay next week. A hotel in Albay was used as an evacuation center. According to Mayor Gemma Ongjuco of Guinobatan, the hotel owner volunteered to have his property used as an evacuation center. The hotel gave priority to senior citizens, pregnant women and children. According to the hotel owner, he will allow the evacuees to use his hotel as long as they are not allowed to return to the their homes.
Boxes of canned goods, water, rice and generator sets were brought by the Armed Forces of the Philippines when it visited Albay. Sept. 17 (Albay) — More than 4,624 families or 23,557 individuals have been evacuated in Albay as Mayon continued to exhibit signs of high unrest and possible eruption. Forced evacuation of the residents living in the permanent danger zone near the Mayon Volcano is still ongoing, with 2,000 families already evacuated.
The local government of Albay will implement a 24-hour curfew in the areas inside the 6-8km permanent danger zone around Mayon Volcano. The curfew was implemented after the forced or compulsory evacuation of residents living near the said volcano.
