3 Abu Sayyaf bandits, 1 Marine killed in Sulu encounter

(Eagle News) — Three Abu Sayyaf bandits and one Marine were killed in a clash in Sulu on Thursday, Dec. 13. A radio report said at least two Marines and an undetermined number of Abu Sayyaf bandits were also injured in the encounter, which took place as government security forces were patrolling Minis island at 2:25 a.m. Two M40 rifles were recovered from the scene, authorities said.
