QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Another long weekend is coming up. Malacanang on Friday declared June 26, Monday, as a regular holiday in the country. Proclamation No. 235, signed by President Rodrigo Duterte, said that the declaration was made in observance of Eid’l Fitr, an important Muslim holiday. Postponement of Barangay and SK polls okayed by both chambers of Congress
(Eagle News)– Both chambers of Congress, the Senate and House of Representatives, have agreed to move the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections to 2017. The new date agreed for the polls is October 23, 2017. Majority Floor Leader Rodolfo Fariñas said in a caucus at the House of Representatives that they will file a bill postponing the elections to next year. The Senate will file their own bill as well.
