3.2-magnitude quake hits Batanes

(Eagle News)–A 3.2-magnitude earthquake struck Batanes on Saturday, Aug. 10. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 35 kilometers southwest of Sabtang at 7:18 a.m. Depth of focus was 30 kilometers. An instrumental intensity I was felt in Basco. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Number-coding scheme lifted effective 3 p.m. today

(Eagle News)–The number-coding scheme is lifted effective 3 p.m. today, Aug. 9. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority made the announcement via Twitter, amid the inclement weather brought about by an enhanced southwest monsoon. Earlier, the Palace suspended work in government offices and classes in Metro Manila. The memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said the suspension was effective 3 p.m. The MMDA said the number-coding scheme, however, still applies in Makati.

(Eagle News)–A 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck Batanes on Friday, Aug. 9. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, an aftershock of the series of earthquakes in the province on July 27, hit 3 kilometers southwest of Itbayat at 10:51 a.m Depth of focus was 17 kilometers. An intensity III was felt in Itbayat, PHIVOLCS said. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
