The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 9 kilometers southwest of Claveria at 2:59 p.m. Depth of focus was 11 kilometers. An instrumental intensity I was felt in Claveria. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over the provinces within the next 2 hours. “All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” PAGASA said. “Keep monitoring for updates,” it added.
