It is true that those students who give high importance to education dream of being able to study in prestigious universities. Like here in our country, most students (especially those who can afford it) choose schools which are really popular, and which they think can give them a better quality education. As a matter of fact, I am one of those students. But if you will ask me now about this matter, I will definitely answer that I am very proud of this university where I am studying.
People would probably raise their brows when they hear about this university – the New Era University – and some would even say, “Where is that university located?” These things are very common because, let us face it, some people are not yet familiar with it. But I will vouch for this university not because I am studying here but because this university is really “one in a million” for me.
Just take a look at what the school officials have decided about the mission and vision. If you will really focus on it, you will understand the most important priority of the school administration. From the school staff up to the faculty members, you will see how dedicated they are in their work. But behind all this, there is one thing that is very important for them – to serve not just the people and the students, but above all, God Almighty. The vision of the school is “Glory to God and service to humanity’’ while the mission is to “Provide quality education anchored on Christian values.” Based from these two statements, together with the observation on how this school staff is doing, you can really see that they do not just work for people, but most of all they work for God. Teachers guide and teach the students lessons and topics from different courses but still they put emphasis on discipline and other moral or Christian values. The employees of this school do their jobs not just to earn a living but definitely, to glorify our Almighty God. Where can you find another school like this in the Philippines or in any other country?
Certainly, this university is “one in a million.” Because of this, I am definitely proud that I am studying here. People in this university do not just teach things from the book, but things that are really important for individuals to learn and remember, not just by mind but also by heart.
