Chiz EscuderoQUEZON City, Philippines (March 23) – We, as voters, have the responsibility to know about the candidates for the upcoming election. Let’s get to know more about Senator Francis Joseph Guevara Escudero, one of the six candidates who wanted to be the next vice president.

He was born on October 10, 1969. Since kindergarten he was in University of the Philippines, Diliman, where he also earned his law degree. He passed the bar examination in 1994 and earned his master’s degree in International and Comparative Law at Georgetown University in 1996.

Youngest among the members o the Congress, his political career started in 1998, at the age of 28, as Representative of the First District of Sorsogon where he also became a majority floor leader. He was re-elected in 2001 and 2004 and was the majority floor leader from 2004 to 2007.In the 15th Congress he filed 281 bills with the Committee on Justice and Human Rights and 300 bills with the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources.

He was honored as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines in 2005. Chiz Escudero is the only Filipino tagged as Asia New Network’s Asia’s Idol. He was also recognized as World Economic Forum as Young Global Leader of 2008.

Second to Antonio Trillanes , Chiz Escudero declared in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Network (SALN) in 2014 his net worth of 6, 049,082.09 with zero liabilities. His loss of 26.62% from 2013 SALN was due to his wedding with actress, Heart Evangelista in February. In 2012, he was the poorest senator.

As one of the six candidates running for vice president, he joined his campaign with Grace Poe. The Poe – Escudero team believes that they should not join political parties like the Liberal, the Nacionalista and others. “Our party should be the Filipino people” Chiz Escudero  said in a speech he delivered at his declaration to run for vice president in the 2016 National election.

GP that stands for Grace Poe, proposes “Gobyernong may Puso”. They believe that no one should be left behind. It is not fair that people complain about the traffic in Metro Manila when there are no roads or highways in provinces like Cordillera. The Poe-Escudero platform proposes that there should be a simultaneous growth and development for every Filipino. No one should be left behind.
