COMELEC reminds voters biometric registration period

With only two-days left remaining until the last day of the registration deadline, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is once again reminding almost three million voters with no biometric data to have their biometrics and validate their registration for them to be able to vote in the May 2016 national and local elections. COMELEC said that the voter’s registration period will end as scheduled on Saturday, October 31. (Eagle News Service)

Several roads in Metro Manila to be closed for 2015 APEC summit

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said that some portions of EDSA and Roxas Boulevard will be closed to motorists during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation 2015 Leaders’ summit in Manila starting November 16 to 20. MMDA said that only APEC vehicles are allowed to use the two innermost lanes of EDSA’s five lane both northbound southbound. (Eagle News Service)

DepEd ensures educational continuity in Typhoon Lando-affected schools

Lando evacuees return home

As of yesterday, only 106 evacuation centers managed by local government units (LGUs) in Regions I, III, and CAR remain open, temporarily housing 5,805 families or 25,443 persons affected by Typhoon Lando. At the height of Lando, close to 900 evacuation centers were opened to accommodate affected families. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) removed the name “Lando” in the list of storm names and will be replaced with “Liwayway”.
