Typhoon impact on agriculture

Compared to “Yolanda”, the impact of “Ruby” on the country’s agriculture is less damaging. According to Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala, the total cost of damages and production losses in harvests and infrastructure amount to 1.2 billion pesos. Said damage include 55, 000 hectares of agricultural land in the Bicol region, Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas. A major factor in the comparatively lesser damaged caused by “Ruby” was that farmers have already harvested their fields.
