7 Abu Sayyaf members killed in encounter with gov’t troops

Abu Sayyaf sub-leader among those hurt

(Eagle News)–Seven members of the Abu Sayyaf were killed and several others were hurt in an encounter with government troops in Sulu on Friday, Sept. 14.

ASG sub-leader Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan was among the six ASG members injured in the encounter between members of the bandit group and the military in Patikul.

Seventeen soldiers were also hurt.

The military is pursuing the other bandits who fled from the scene, where four 5.56 mm magazines,  and assorted war materiel and ammunition, among others, were recovered.
