Vindication for PHL: Gilas Pilipinas beats defending champ China in 2017 FIBA-Asia Cup

(Eagle News) – Gilas Pilipinas won over defending champion China in the 2017 FIBA-Asia Cup on Wednesday, August 9, in Lebanon.

With a 96-87 win, Philippines scored big over China which beat the Philippines two years ago, in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship with a score of 78-67.

It was also a vindication for the Philippines which had also experienced successive defeats from China in the Asian Games of 2014, and the FIBA Asia Challenge in 2016, aside from the FIBA-Asia championship loss in 2015.

The game was held at the Nouhad Nawfal Stadium in Beirut, Lebanon.

Tonight at 9 p.m. Gilas Pilipinas will face Iraq.
